In the development of airships, ILC has created innovative lightweight materials that are capable of handling high loads, preventing helium permeation, and transmitting light from within the airship. Other successful product development efforts, such as impact bags used to safely cushion Pathfinder's landing on Mars and advanced munition decelerators, have served to hone ILC's skills in this area.
